Just shows how good the industry was back then, no wonder so much talent was created at CDP. Difficult to think of any bad ads they've done or am I looking through rose-tinted wine glasses?

Thanks Sue they did do some great stuff, unfortunately without me being there!! As for the glasses I wasn't sure whether it was rose, or Rosé, but then as my tipple is a chilled pinot noir it's probably the former, or there again maybe the latter!

The Hamlet commercials were my favourite as a child. I remember going to the cinema for those Herbie films and for some reason they were on before the film. Strange as it was kids film but the laws were laxer then.
Strange also Ridley went on to make Bladerunner after the Hovis commercial.
Thanks also I think I will perhaps build a little library of iconic agency pieces.

Speaking as an ex member of Howland Street - unfortunately CDP wouldn't get off the ground today. No one's prepared to go with a 'gut instinct' & run an ad. It must have at least 38.5 tick boxes checked before the client will even consider looking at it.

David, you're not wrong. Gutless-ness is rife. As to CDP, it was a magical time. We actually had fun! Check out this clip, which was posted on the CDP Celebration Members site...and weep.

This video was shot in the mid 80s at ad agency CDP on the Euston Road. David Horry had arranged for Chris Peacock's office to be boarded up, plastered and painted over a weekend. This video show Chris turning up for work on Monday and trying to find his office. Advertising isn't like it used to be...
