Yorkshire Tea better than sex

LONDON - Yorkshire Tea has launched a TV spot, the latest in the brand's 'Teatime's Important' campaign, in which a young couple put an amorous encounter on hold to enjoy a brew.

The spot has been created by Beattie McGuiness Bungay (BMB), which picked up the £2m ad account for the brand in 2008.

The ad depicts a Yorkshire couple enjoying a passionate embrace before the man leans forward and whispers in a pronounced Yorkshire accent "would you like a cup of tea?"

The girl appears delighted by the suggestion and the pair break off to enjoy a cup of Yorkshire Tea before resuming their frolics.

Yorkshire Tea, owned by Taylors of Harrogate, has played heavily on its roots in its recent advertising. Last year, it resurrected Graham Fellows's late 80s comedy character John Shuttleworth.

The first ad in the series sees the bespectacled Yorkshire stalwart in his garage playing his keyboard in an attempt to create a song in honour of Yorkshire Tea.

The latest campaign, aired this week, will be supported by national press and online marketing

Oh dear. A couple with no spark / chemistry, an ad that lacks any sexual charge what so ever and several amusing innuendos missed .

Really BMB. I don't think this is what Boy George meant when he told Wogan he'd rather have a cup of tea...

Wow, this is bad.

Yes agree awful concept and hardly credible not sure if it will do anything for YT, completely lacking in the humour and spontaniety of the PG ad, but then I guess that's what happens when you wear clogs and say 'eh by gum!'

I think that headline is a bit muddled. I'm sure it's meant to say "Yorkshire sex better than tea"

I think they must have been watching the Gold Blend Nestle ads for reference on this one...perhaps if they had put a bit of Yorkshire Bitter in the tea it might have helped get things going?
