Absolute Radio 00s
Launching on 10 December, Absolute Radio has created its sixth digital service focusing on music and bands from the past decade. The playlist will include Kings Of Leon, Muse and crossover acts such as Outkast, while British Gas has been signed as the exclusive commercial partner until 2011. Given that digital radio has had so many false dawns and that the industry is still struggling to find a common voice, it is good to see one radio company with the confidence to lead the way - even though the name (Absolute Radio Noughties?) is a bit clunky.
The return of Peep Show
It's generally accepted that any decent British comedy only lasts a couple of seasons (Fawlty Towers, The Office etc), but Peep Show, back for its seventh series, shows no sign of deteriorating in quality. Mark is still as uptight and socially inept as ever, a man seemingly constantly on the edge of a nervous breakdown, while Jeremy is his usual dark, egotistical and deluded self. And with episode one seeing Sophie give birth to Mark's child, the scene is set for even more laugh-so-hard-it-hurts comedy.

So the Americans don't like us, after all, and there is nothing special about the "special relationship" - there's a surprise. If anyone really still believed that there was still some sort of ethical or spiritual link between the UK and the US, they must surely now realise that US foreign policy is driven by self-interest and little else. While the revelations don't - yet - have the comedic impact of the MPs' expenses that were serialised in last year's Daily Telegraph, it's been quite fun watching the US administration squirm at their less-than-flattering depiction of governments around the world.
The return of Adam and Joe on 6Music
OK, so it's only for a one-off show on Christmas Day, but it's better than nothing since their Saturday morning slot has been absent from the airwaves for nearly a year. Given that 6Music has so far apparently failed to come up with an offer that tempts Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish to return, is it too much to hope that one of its commercial rivals will try to find a way to get them back on the radio for a regular stint soon?

The sad passing of Leslie Nielsen
The actor featured in some of the best comedy films of the 20th century in a brilliant career that has kept some of the older Campaign staff amused since their childhood. Can it really be 30 years since Airplane! was released at the cinema? Fortunately for us, Nielsen leaves behind a body of work, from Police Squad! to The Naked Gun, that has already been shown to stand the test of time.
