Publicis widens role of UK chief

Publicis Group has widened the reach of its UK chief Rick Bendel to include the Baltic and Nordic countries.

LONDON (Brand Republic) – Publicis Group has widened the reach of its UK chief Rick Bendel to include the Baltic and Nordic countries.

Bendel, currently head of Publicis operations in the UK, becomes regional chairman for the UK, Baltic and Nordic countries. He will also become a member of the Publicis executive committee, the French advertising group’s management board.

He replaces Walter van der Mee, who becomes regional chairman of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux from January next year.

The moves come as Publicis restructures its European management in readiness for the retirement of Georg Baums, its current regional chairman for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Baums oversaw the group’s expansion programme in Germany, after which Publicis became the third-largest agency in Europe’s largest advertising market.
