Premiership clubs in digital radio deal

Digital radio broadcaster Radio First is set to join forces with eight Premier League football clubs to launch the Fan Radio Network.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Digital radio broadcaster Radio First is set to join forces with eight Premier League football clubs to launch the Fan Radio Network.

Radio First has already signed deals with Derby County, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Southampton, which will launch their own radio stations for the 2001-2002 football season. Four more clubs are set to join them.

Analysts believe advertising revenue from the radio network could be lucrative for the clubs. Advertisers will be attracted to the stations because they will be cheaper than TV but will have the same ability to target specific geographical areas.
