The Swedish shop Dogwash (one of the more esoteric agency names Diary has heard) has produced a set of emojis that creatives can e-mail each other when discussing work. The emojis include D&AD Pencils, Cannes Lions, ad characters such as the drumming gorilla and Old Spice’s Isaiah Mustafa, as well as icons to suggest making the logo bigger. Diary can’t help thinking that the set would be complete if there were emojis for "give me a John Lewis", "kiss your weekend goodbye" and "trust me, it’ll sound great coming out of David Mitchell’s mouth". The app was developed for iPhones and iPads and is available from the App Stor
Put out to pasture
Campaign recently reported that Morrisons had postponed airing a campaign, created by DLKW Lowe, despite already booking the media on ITV. The supermarket ended up running something uninteresting in its place, but Diary has now heard details of the delayed work. Apparently, the idea was to transform everyday stereotypes – such as the gap-year student – into animal form. A famous comedian was even lined up to get the treatment. For what it’s worth, Diary thought the idea sounded an entertaining one. Here’s hoping it still finds its way on to our screens.
RKCR strikes gold
It has been a fine week for Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R – an agency that deserves some good fortune, to be honest – as it picked up its third Bafta, for titles and graphic identity, at the British Academy Television Craft Awards. The shop was honoured for its 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics work, beating the likes of Penny Dreadful and Ripper Street. Its previous Baftas were also for the Olympics – Beijing 2008 and the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.
