Sky promotes chief marketer to UK and Ireland chief executive

Sky has promoted Stephen van Rooyen, its chief marketing and digital officer, to chief executive of its UK and Ireland operations.

Van Rooyen has been at Sky for ten years, having joined from Virgin Media in 2006 as director of product management.

He was made chief marketing and digital officer in July 2014 after three years as MD of sales and marketing.

Van Rooyen told Marketing that he would still be handling his current duties for the time being and it had not yet decided what would happen to the chief marketer role in the future.
