BUSINESS PERFORMANCE LEAGUE - 4 AUGUST 1997

By CAROLINE MARSHALL, campaignlive.co.uk, Friday, 08 August 1997 12:00AM

My, things are getting tight at the top. It’s been two weeks since the last performance league - time enough for Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO to sneak up on the blind side and steal BMP DDB’s award-winning Doritos account, then follow that up by landing the pounds 1 million launch of Classic FM’s record label. AMV had to let go of Monster Munch as part of the Doritos re-alignment, but still came out pounds 1.5 million better off.

My, things are getting tight at the top. It’s been two weeks since

the last performance league - time enough for Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO

to sneak up on the blind side and steal BMP DDB’s award-winning Doritos

account, then follow that up by landing the pounds 1 million launch of

Classic FM’s record label. AMV had to let go of Monster Munch as part of

the Doritos re-alignment, but still came out pounds 1.5 million better

off.

Meanwhile, the league leader, Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, bade farewell to

its last chunk of Reckitt and Colman business. The pounds 2.1 million

loss means there is now just pounds 1.6 million between first and second

place.

The recipient of the Reckitts business, McCann-Erickson, was already

having a fine new-business year - having picked up the pounds 12 million

Esso account in March - and now moves into the top ten with total net

gains of nearly pounds 13 million.

Lansdown Conquest enters the top 30 for the first time this year after

being appointed to handle a campaign for OK! magazine. Also, Gotham

comes in at number 29 after picking up the advertising task to launch

Ultrafem’s Instead sanpro brand.
