Capital Radio has rechristened its recently announced sales operation, Capital Advertising, and is setting up an in-house strategic planning and development operation. The company was formed a result of a merger between Capital Radio Sales and the sales house, Media Sales & Marketing. A launch date is expected in the next few weeks. - General release

Jan Hall, the former European chief executive of the GGT Group, who

resigned in May, has taken up a partnership in the recruitment

consultancy, Spencer Stuart. Hall, who received a pounds 200,000 pay-off

from GGT, will take on an international role at the consultancy which

has 40 offices around the world. - General release



Agfa-Gevaert is reviewing its pounds 9 million worldwide advertising

account, currently held by McCann-Erickson. Anderson & Lembke, the

agency recently acquired by McCanns, has held the account for ten years.

McCanns will retain the photographic arm of the business without a pitch

and has been invited to repitch for the remaining work. - General

Heathrow Express, the new high-speed rail link between London Paddington

and Heathrow, is seeking agencies to service its marketing arm. The

BAA-owned company is looking for both above- and below-the-line

solutions, supported by a spend of about pounds 3 million. Applications

must be received by 30 September. - General release



CIA Medianetwork UK has put together a pounds 3 million advertising

blitz for Daewoo, which is launching three cars this year without using

TV. Launch activity will start with Daewoo dominating press over the

weekend with combination of placement devices. - General release



Nina Custerton, the head of marketing at the Body Shop, is leaving the

company, the second senior person to quit its marketing department in

the past two months. It is not known if she has a job to go to. The

marketing operation in the UK will be overseen by Marina Galanti, the

director of communications, who joined from Benetton in April. -

Redundancies are expected at Leo Burnett in the US following the

defection of several blue-chip clients and the loss of its lead-agency

status on McDonald’s. A company-wide meeting is now planned to discuss

TAG Heuer is reviewing its multi-million pound global ad account,

currently held by BDDP in Paris. Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, Bartle Bogle

Hegarty and the incumbent are pitching for the account. - Marketing



The McWilliams Partnership has won the advertising task for several News

International weeklies, including the Times Literary Supplement and the

Times Educational Supplement. The pitch was believed to involve the

incumbent - Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray - and Ammirati Puris Lintas.

Tango is running a competition with Sun Woman, offering five prizes of a

starring role in its latest ad. A hotline will run in the paper for one

day only and the winners will be contacted by Tango. - The Sun



Orange is set to launch a pounds 1 million ad campaign aimed at the

business market as part of a move to expand its cus-tomer base. Rival

mobile communication companies - such as Cellnet, One-2-One and Vodafone

- are all also expected to release fresh work during the next month in

line with the traditionally strong autumn sales period for consumer

The Alliance & Leicester has appointed Nick Smith as head of its newly

formed marketing communications team. Smith joins from Sekonda Watches

where he was the managing director. Before that, he was an account
