The season of corporate hospitality is definitely upon us as Carlton

knows only too well. In the process of investigating a spurious lead

concerning Carlton and the purchase of 50 fake Euro 96 tickets, an

intriguing story emerged concerning Carlton and the European Cup final,

held in Rome last month.

Carlton had arranged to take a number of media types to the Ajax versus

Juventus game, including a lucky name or two from Zenith.

Eager to save the expense of buying a corporate package, Carlton

delegated the booking ofÿ20hotels and flights to the very

efficient secretary who had managed the whole process so beautifully

when the final took place in Vienna last year.

Imagine their surprise when, just a couple of days before the party was

due to depart for Rome, Carlton’s account director, Tom Paton, realised

that the secretary had been so efficient that she had booked everything

for... Vienna... again.

Just for the record, Tom, next year’s final will not be in Rome.
