KHBB has axed seven staff from its production services department in the
week it relaunches as K Advertising.
The agency will now pool its production work through the facilities
group at its parent company, Cordiant, which also handles work for the
fellow the Cordiant agency, Bates Dorland.
Glen Fraser, a director of K Advertising, said the job cuts, which
represent 10 per cent of the workforce, were necessary to ‘deliver a
KHBB’s relaunch comes five months after the proposed management buyout
from Cordiant collapsed.
The newly branded agency will remain an autonomous shop wholly owned by
Cordiant, with Hamish Pringle as chairman and chief executive officer,
supported by a team of seven directors.
The agency will leave its offices and move into Whitfield Street
premises with fellow Cordiant company, Equinox Communications.
Pringle said the company had been changing internally in the past few
months and now was ready to relaunch to the outside world.
‘We wanted to take our time restructuring in order to consult staff and
clients on the best way forward,’ he said.
Pringle said the agency, which has a new corporate logo with a black K
on a bright yellow background, now plans to pursue an aggressive new

have gives itself more thinking time for front-foot creative ideas.’
Pringle said the agency had decided to rename as K Advertising to retain
continuity with the past. K originally stood for Kingly, a partner in
Kingly Manton and Palmer, a precursor to KHBB.
KHBB was forced to review its position when Graeme Arkell, its managing
director, and Barbara Nokes, its creative director, quit after
disagreements over the naming and proposed shareholding of the agency..
