The high street television and video retailer, Colorvision, is talking

to agencies about its pounds 4.5 million full-service account.

At least two London agencies are believed to be lining up to tilt for

the business. The client is thought to be looking for an agency to help

with a tactical retail development.

The account was formerly handled on a project basis by McCann-Erickson

Manchester and Universal McCann.

Colorvision’s business season peaks at Christmas when it spends heavily

on press campaigns. A campaign through McCanns appeared last Christmas

but it is understood that the two will not work together on a similar

campaign this year.

Colorvision has faced difficulties this year. In January, the Office of

Fair Trading revoked its consumer credit licences accusing it of

‘deceitful’ business practices. As a result, the client said in March

that losses would exceed market forecasts.

In May, Colorvision was told it could keep its licences after confirming

that it would restructure the business.

Also in May, Brian Wolfson, the former chief executive of the Granada

Group, was appointed executive chairman and Cliff Procter became

marketing director.

Brian Child, the managing director of McCanns, declined to comment on

the possible pitches.
