Security Publications (SP), has entered the gardening market with a
magazine called Gardens Made Easy.
The title, which will launch on 29 February, will have a 140,000 print
run and will be aimed at 30- to 55-year-old ABC1s.
The first edition of Gardens Made Easy will be distributed free as a
supplement to the April edition of SP’s publication Home.
The second issue will be sold as a standalone title, and will appear on
11 April with a cover price of pounds 2.60. Advertisement manager Andy
Oakes, the former ad manager of Property Direct and Property Week, will
head a sales team of two.
According to Andree Frieze, editor of Gardens Made Easy, the magazine is
aimed at people who have been inspired by the recent vogue for gardening
and ’want to have a go’.
Frieze added: ’Gardens Made Easy will be an entry point into gardening,
providing information about how to grow and care for shrubs, flowers and
vegetables as well as including features about how to make garden design
SP, which is owned by the French media group Havas, also produces Home,
Fast Car and Classics.
Gardens Made Easy will be competing against rival titles such as BBC
Gardener’s World, Your Garden, Gardens Illustrated, The English Garden
and New Eden.
