1983 - Media job on The Scotsman after selling fluffy toys and

running an ironing business as a teenager



1985 - Joins The Observer as agency sales executive



1988 - Brief spell at Maxwell Publishing, then moves to Associated

Newspapers as client sales executive on The Mail on Sunday



1992 - Moves to the Evening Standard



1994 - Switches to the other side as new-business director for a top ten

media buyer



1999 - Returns to newspapers with a new title in a top management

role.



Currently embroiled in a launch war in a northern city
