Digital agency i-level has hired Nick Gutfreund from Publicis to head up its international business.

Gutfreund will build the company's expansion in key international markets and follows news that an office will be opened in Benelux.

He set up and ran the Ericsson account for Publicis last year after joining the agency in 1999. Before that he was at Bates Dorland where he was board account director working on brands such as Center Parcs, Cussons, Heinz and Seat.

I-level chief operating officer Andrew Walmsley said: "He brings a rare mix of both global advertising and a firm grasp of digital media. His arrival means we can not only roll out our international offices with confidence, myself and chief executive officer Charlie Dobres can work on clients' day-to-day campaigns."
