- Lowe & Partners/SMS has appointed Publicis New York's chief executive and chairman, Robert Kantor, as president, of the agency following a seven month long search.

Kantor, who will report directly to Lowe & Partners' co-chairmen, Marvin Sloves and Lee Garfinkel, will be responsible for managing the agency's daily operations, new business developments, agency direction and client relationships.

Kantor joins after four years at Publicis, where the last two were spent as CEO/chairman. He joined in 1994 to help the transition following the Bloom and Publicis merger.

Prior to Publicis, Kantor ran Chiat/Day's $100 million Reebok business in New York, as well as overseeing the agency's account management group and leading its new business efforts. He was responsible for developing Chiat's 'virtual office' concept.

Earlier, at Griffin Bacal, he ran the Hasbro Toys business.
