Highbury refugee MacKenzie resurfaces at Media Square

LONDON - Kelvin MacKenzie, who left his post as executive chairman of publisher Highbury House a month ago, has landed a new role as non-executive chairman of marketing services group Media Square.
The former Sun editor and TalkSport chief executive will help steer the fortunes of a recently expanded Media Square. The group, which owns the Dynamo sales promotion agency, expanded last year when it bought a number of companies from PR group Huntsworth in November.
The announcement of MacKenzie's appointment coincided with Media Square's results to October 31 2005. Its sales trebled to £61.6m and profit rose from £1.4m to £3.6m.
Media Square has 1,700 employees globally and owns businesses such as Incepta Marketing Intelligence, design agency Holmes & Marchant, Incepta Online, JKD Communications, Citigate Hudson and Citigate MarchCom and sponsorship agencies Redmandarin.
Along with the agencies bought from Huntsworth, Media Square also owns direct marketing agency Clark McKay & Walpole; business-to-business ad agency IAS; interactive shop Arnold Interactive; and retail marketing services agency Fourninety.
Highbury collapsed under the weight of its estimated £27m debts last Friday, when it went into administration.
