1. Laurence Green, Fallon
Green easily retains his number one spot on this list. Despite his role as chairman, he stays involved with the business, making significant contributions on Cadbury, the BBC, Eurostar and Skoda this year. Great with clients and creatives alike.
2. Nikki Crumpton, McCann Erickson
Assuming the top spot at McCann has given Crumpton a chance to showcase her strategic and management talents. Success in new business for Heinz and RHM, have established her as a London planning director to be reckoned with.
3. David Bain, Beattie McGuinness Bungay
Dr David Bain has played a central role in the success of BMB over the past year, leading strategy development on some of the agency's most high-profile accounts including McCain and Ikea.
4. Stuart Smith, Wieden & Kennedy
Smith has made a strong contribution to W&K's diverse range of accounts, including Honda, Nike and Lurpak. He has helped augment W&K's creative reputation with some well-deserved strategic and effectiveness capabilities.
5. Rebecca Morgan, Lowe
Morgan has a clear head and a sharp mind and has proved herself adept at new-business challenges since joining Lowe from BT last year. Her first test was the John Lewis pitch, which she helped win. Successive wins for Beck's and COI have cemented her appeal.
6. George Bryant, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO
Bryant has been one of the main reasons that Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO has been so astoundingly good at pitching this year. The chirpy south Londoner, who has also been known to do a bit of DJing at weekends, can take pride in the Grand Prix win for Sainsbury's at the Account Planning Group Awards, underlining the strong planning performance of the agency.
7. Mark Sinnock, Fallon
Fallon's chief strategic officer has been called a planner with a hard centre for the strong business acumen he brings to his work. He was critical to winning and bedding in last year's Asda win and led the team that picked up Budweiser this year. Leads the planning effort on Sony and Orange International.
8. Lucy Jameson, DDB London
Jameson combines a quiet wisdom with healthy cynicism and has become the lynchpin of DDB London's planning department. In her new role as the executive strategy director, she has overseen Volkswagen, Marmite and Harvey Nichols. Her presence is never more appreciated especially with the departure of DDB's head of planning, Matt Dyke.
9. Neil Dawson, Hurrell and Dawson
This may not have been H&D's year, but there's still no doubting this man's credentials as a planner. With two new partners, all eyes will be on the agency to see whether Dawson's insightful approach starts to reel in some big clients in 2008.
10. Russ Lidstone, Euro RSCG
Lidstone's total lack of ego puts people at their ease, something that makes him a big hit with clients. He was said to be the element that nailed the successful 3 pitch for Euro in May. His strategic thinking ain't bad either.
