The AAR will help to find the most suitable publisher to match a client's brief. It will manage initial inquiries, offer advice over the phone and guide clients through the search process.
From the initial client brief, the AAR will screen a shortlist of agencies, set up chemistry meetings between client and agency and will manage any subsequent pitch meetings.
The move follows the appointment of Julia Hutchison, the former business director at Starcom Motive, as the director of the APA, replacing Hilary Weaver, who has moved upwards to a broader role at the parent body the Periodical Publishers Association.
Hutchison, who joined last month, is focusing on running the APA as an effective promotional vehicle for customer publishers.
"The implementation of a consultancy service is the next logical step for APA members and an exciting development for the market," she said.
Paul Phillips, the director of advertising and media services at the AAR, will oversee the service.
