ABC FIGURES BRIEF: Emap's Max Power achieves best performance

Emap's Max Power achieved the best performance among car magazines with a sales increase of 10.2% on last year to 237, 584, nearly twice as many as its nearest rival. Of the other performance car titles, Fast Car was up 6% and Redline, which didn't have an ABC last year, was up 13% on the previous period. In the classic car sector, the market-leading Class & Sportscar increased sales by 3.4% over last year to 91,145. Meanwhile, Practical Classics and Car Restorer was down 2.7% and Classic Cars was up 2.6%. Sales of motorsport titles plummeted, with market-leading F1 Racing down 20.2% to 78,251, Autosport down 12.3% and Motorsport News down 7.5%. In the general sector, Top Gear fell 4% to 144,104. But BBC Magazines said last December's make-over plus the recent return to the screens of the TV show would be reflected next period.
