Roland joins from talkSPORT, where he held the head of sponsorship job for two years.
At Emap, Roland will oversee a team of 12 and will be responsible for driving all non-spot advertising revenue including sponsorship, promotions and supplier-funded programming across Emap's broadcast portfolio.
Roland's appointment unites him with his former talkSPORT boss, Tim Bleakley, who is now the broad-cast sales director at Emap Advertising.
Bleakley said: "Adam is a slick and experienced operator who comes to the role with significant experience of developing and securing highly creative and effective national campaigns for major brands."
Roland, who will join Emap on 7 June, is also tasked with creating campaigns that can bring together Emap's radio and TV brands.
He said: "The radio medium is going through a sea-change unlike anything it has seen before and Emap is pioneering that change so I look forward to working with Tim again and championing national digital radio."
Emap is currently pushing its strategy of building national radio brands through digital radio and Sky Digital, as well as strong local brands such as Kiss 100 and Magic FM. Its national digital radio brands include Smash Hits, Heat, Kerrang! and Q.
