Agencies line up for Imperial Tobacco task

The company, which owns brands including Rizla, USA Gold, Davidoff Cigarettes, Gauloises and Lambert & Butler, has contacted agencies that could support the management of its European Union Twitter account, @ImpTobBrussels.

Imperial Tobacco is looking to develop a new strategy that may involve expanding its presence on social media.

It is understood that the process does not involve an intermediary.

In March 2014, Proximity picked up Imperial Tobacco’s global creative account. WPP’s Deepblue Networks was the incumbent.

In November that year, the company’s ads promoting an app that listed smoking-friendly venues were banned by the Advertising Standards Authority.

Imperial Tobacco did not respond to Campaign’s request for comment.
