AMV BBDO leads the way in Cannes Lions press shortlist

CANNES 2010 - Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO has secured eight nominations in the Press Lions shortlist, as UK agencies picked up 35 nominations in all.

All eight of AMV BBDO's nominations came for its work on Doritos, which got the nod four times in the 'Sweet Foods & Snacks' category and four times in the 'Copywriting' category.

Other agencies that enjoyed a strong showing include JWT London, which scooped six nominations for its work on Kleenex, and DDB UK, which also secured six nominations, thanks to its 'Independent cinema sponsorship' campaign for Volkswagen.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty has been nominated five times for St John Ambulance, Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R scooped four nominations for its work on Land Rover and Shock And Soul, while M&C Saatchi and The Red Brick Road secured three nominations each for work on Dixons.co.uk and Take the Family respectively.

Thirty-five nominations mark a strong showing from UK agencies, with the figure almost double the 18 nominations that UK shops picked up in the category last year.

Other countries that feature heavily in the shortlist include Brazil, which picked up a staggering 68 nominations, as well as France, Germany and India.
