OK, so it’s another press Sale of the Week (come on you TV,
internet and radio sellers, get on the phone with your clever deals) but
it’s such a beauty it had to go in.
Last Wednesday, Times 2 contained an article on the ups and downs of
owning a dog. The journalist talked of her decision to buy a pooch from
Battersea Dogs Home and the adjustments she had to make when Molly moved
in. There, sitting in the bottom right-hand corner of the page, was a
solitary ad for the National Canine Defence League. The bright yellow ad
read: ’Like to give a dog a home?’ and ’A dog is for life’.
Times agency sales executive Nick Chapman and Booth Lockett Makin media
executive Alex Reynolds can claim the credit. ’I was made aware of the
piece and thought it would be perfect,’ said Reynolds. ’Newspapers are
often reluctant to run advertisements that small, especially if it is
colour, so it was tricky to pull off. I’ve sent the client a voucher
copy and I’m waiting for the reaction but I think they’ll be happy.’
