Andrew Black takes lead marketing role at Wallpaper Group

IPC Media's lifestyle magazine group, Wallpaper, has poached Andrew Black, the vice-president of the US ad agency Laird & Partners.

Black takes the newly created position of executive publisher and marketing director. He will be based at Wallpaper's London HQ and will be responsible for the marketing functions in the group's nine international offices.

The creation of the position comes at a time when the Wallpaper Group is looking to expand its portfolio, with a specific focus on the US.

Richard Johnstone, the publishing director of the Wallpaper Group, said: "This is an exciting appointment for the Wallpaper Group, which clearly demonstrates our commitment and aspirations to expand and develop the portfolio. Andrew has both the international credentials and marketing experience that will complement our already talented team."

The group, which publishes Wallpaper magazine and the bi-annual travel guide Navigator, has ventured online, with the launch of this week.

While at Laird & Partners, Black headed the Gap and Donna Karan accounts.

Previously, he held the position of vice-president of global advertising at Donna Karan.

Black said: "I am delighted to be joining Wallpaper. I maintain an acute understanding of the challenges facing brand advertisers, and look forward to sharing my knowledge with the group."
