Andy Blackford, the leading integrated creative figure, is to join

Grey Direct as creative director. He will replace Lloyd Hancock, who is

leaving the agency by mutual agreement.

Blackford, who is charged with improving Grey Direct’s creative output,

has been freelancing since 1996 when he left the DMB&B-owned promotional

marketing agency, IMP, where he was executive creative director.

Grey Direct’s managing director, Nick Crossman, commented: ’Andy’s

appointment is an affirmation of our policy of building brands

directly.’

Blackford started out above the line and co-founded the award-winning

agency, Impact FCA, in the early 90s. He has conducted audits of

agencies’ creative arrangements and advised on recruitment and

production issues during his stint as a freelance. He commented: ’It’s

high time I got a proper job and put my money where my mouth is.’
