Ann Harris is quitting as the Publicis marketing director to go

solo with her own marketing and PR consultancy.

She plans to draw on her promotional skills - built during a 15-year

career in advertising - to help PR agencies, sales promotion companies

and direct marketing specialists market themselves more effectively.

’Agencies are the worst at marketing themselves,’ she said. ’That’s why

Publicis hired me. It’s scary to be running your own show, but if I

don’t do it now I never will.’

The departure of Harris will spark a restructure of the Publicis

new-business operation with Lucy Bryn Davis, an account director working

on Nestle, becoming business development director. She will work with

the managing director, Grant Duncan, and keep her responsibilities.

Richard Hytner, the Publicis chief executive, said: ’We have always

valued Ann’s energy and commitment and we wish her the greatest

success.’
