Martin Dunn, the editor-in-chief of Associated New Media, is to step aside from his role to front a new investment and incubator vehicle for the company.
Dunn will head up a venture called Front of Mind. It will launch its first venture in three months. Parent company Daily Mail & General Trust will have first refusal on whether it funds and takes a stake in the start-up's projects.
According to Dunn: "This is the culmination of lots of conversations I've been having with the board. The new company will come up with concepts for the net and bring them to the pre-launch stage. DMGT will then step in and totally or partially fund these projects, which will have huge e-commerce opportunities. Instead of funding individual businesses, it has chosen to fund the people who have the ideas."
DMGT has named Kevin Beatty, managing director of The Mail on Sunday, as chief operating officer of Associated New Media.
In a second appointment Owen Davies, finance director and new media director of Northcliffe Newspapers, has been appointed as managing director DMG New Media.
