- NW Ayer & Partners, part of the McManus Group, has appointed Jonathan Mandell from Ammirati Puris Lintas to the newly created role of worldwide chief creative officer.

Mandell was executive vice president and managing director creative on the Burger King account at APL, New York.

New York-based NW Ayer, which has clients including General Motors, Procter & Gamble and Continental Airlines, had been looking for someone to take on its top creative job for more than a year.

Mandell is the first big hiring by Mary Beth Casey, who was recently promoted from president to chief executive at the agency. Casey took over from Mary Lou Quinlan, who left the agency to form a consultancy.
