- The Bank of Scotland is to promote the launch of its new website with its first-ever online advertising campaign.

The bank will run a two-week campaign starting on 12 April using a series of animated banners to point surfers towards its new site located at www.bankofscotland.co.uk.

The campaign has been created by the Edinburgh-based Leith Agency, which was appointed in February 1998 to develop the bank's website.

The banner ads will run on sites including Yahoo!, Lycos, MSN, the Telegraph, the Times and Beeb.

The new site is made up of a series of individual targeted gateways, each developed as a virtually stand-alone site with content designed for a specific target audience.

The gateways are being promoted off-line in related advertising campaigns and literature pointing each target audience to its own tailored site.

Peter Mill, senior partner in charge of new media at The Leith Agency, said: "The bank has proved to be an extremely innovative and forward-looking client and has helped us think outside the box to produce a site which actually considers what the customer wants."
