Basil Mina wins network role at Leo Burnett

Richard Pinder, Leo Burnett's recently appointed president of Europe, has named Basil Mina as the regional creative director of the network.

Mina, who will work from Prague, has a brief to bring together a team of national creative directors and will work on key pan-regional clients including Procter & Gamble, Heinz and Kellogg.

He is due to start immediately and will report to Pinder and Miguel Angel Furones, the worldwide creative director of Burnett.

Mina, 49, began his career at Hunt Lascaris TBWA in Johannesburg. He joined Burnett in Toronto 17 years ago and has worked at its offices around the world. Most recently, he was the executive creative director of Central and Eastern Europe at Leo Burnett Prague.

Pinder said: "Basil is a true international player. He has achieved outstanding results in the Central and Eastern Europe region where we have been the clear leader for the two years that he has been the creative director. His talent, innovation and hunger to win awards will serve the rest of the EMEA region well."

Under Mina, Leo Burnett Prague was the highest ranked Burnett agency in the 2002 and 2003 Gunn Reports, winning at Cannes, The One Show and Clio.

Mina is Pinder's first senior appointment since he became Leo Burnett's president, EMEA, replacing Steven Gatfield earlier this year.
