Levi’s unveils its latest TV and cinema commercial this week,

’tremor’ by Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

An earthquake in Los Angeles provides the commercial’s dramatic setting

and emphasises the reliability of Levi’s 501 jeans when worn rigid and

regular-fitting. The ska soundtrack is Whine and Grine by Prince

Buster.

On a hot day in Los Angeles, an unshaven man wearing Levi’s jeans walks

past a gang of youths wearing baggy trousers and enters a convenience

store. He catches the eye of a girl on his way to the drinks

refrigerator.

Ignoring an earthquake that throws the girl and the shop’s contents on

to the floor, he buys the drink and, as the earthquake ends, walks out

past the gang outside who are retrieving their baggy trousers from

around their ankles. The endline reads: ’Levi’s 501. The original rigid

jeans - won’t let you down.’

The commercial was directed by Doug Liman, who directed last year’s

film, Swingers. It was art directed by Rosie Arnold and written by Will

Awdry. The spot broke in the Brit Awards programme on ITV on Tuesday

night. Media planning and buying is by Motive.
