Beckett becomes CHI's first head of design. He will report to Charles Inge, the agency's creative partner, and work alongside Rob Sutton, CHI's head of type.
In his new role, Beckett will be responsible for overseeing all print and design work that goes through the agency. His responsibilities will include developing art direction, typography, packaging and publishing across all clients.
Beckett, 34, began his career in advertising at GGT in 1998, just as the agency was merging with TBWA Simons Palmer, where he worked with the CHI founders and partners Johnny Hornby and Simon Clemmow.
Beckett said: "I am looking forward to keeping CHI's big ideas fresh across all media. What excited me most about CHI was the opportunity to develop work beyond the traditional poster and press executions."
Hornby, the managing partner at CHI, said: "Dan and I worked together on campaigns for The Big Issue and Nissan when I was at TBWA and he is a one-off talent. We were desperate to get him and are delighted to have him on board."
