- David Atter, the former Tango marketing manager, is to join the BBC's commercial online operation, beeb, as sales and marketing director.

Atter, who has most recently been working at Turner Entertainment Networks as director of marketing, will start in his new job in March.

While at Britvic, he oversaw the launch of Tango's apple, lemon and blackcurrant flavours with campaigns that included the acclaimed "St George" ad for Blackcurrant Tango, featuring the spoof marketing man, Ray Gardner.

Rupert Miles, the director in charge of beeb, said: "His mainstream marketing background makes David the ideal person to lead beeb's assault on the broad consumer market now accessing the internet."
