The joint venture between City Index and PA Sporting Life is the UK's first fully automated on-line betting service offering customers an excellent range of prices on fixed-odds bets live on the internet.

BETonline, which can be accessed at www.betonline.co.uk and at www.sporting-life.com, enjoyed a high degree of success during the World Cup with over 15,000 bets in the 30 days leading up to the World Cup Final.

City Index is also offering customers three different 1998-99 Carling Premiership markets. To win the league it offers Manchester Utd at 7/4 and Arsenal at 9/4. Chelsea are 5/1 to win the league with Newcastle Utd at 25/1 and West Ham Utd at 80/1.

Another market is to guess the top three clubs in the Premier league, for which Manchester Utd are offered at 2/5, Arsenal at 1/2, Chelsea at 5/4 and Derby County at 40/1.

To access this range of fixed-odds bets, customers simply has to register free of charge, choose a password, check out the live prices and the form, make the selections and place the bets live over our bank-approved secure transaction network.

The third Premiership market is Handicap. In this market each team is given a handicap which is added to their points at the end of the season to determine the Handicap winner. Every team is offered at the same fixed odds of 16/1, but with different handicaps. For example, Manchester Utd has been given a handicap of 0 and Arsenal a handicap of +1, whereas Everton has a handicap of +24 and Charlton Athletic +30.
