BMP DDB has created the launch campaign for buryme-right.com, the

website that organises and registers a customer’s final wishes.

The site, due to be up and running by the end of the month, will come up

with ideas for funerals ranging from the wacky and unusual to the more

sedate and standard, so that when the time comes the event is already

sorted out according to the deceased’s wishes.

Entitled ’go your own way,’ the 40-second commercial shows a sequence of

funerals appropriate for different types of people. A magician’s

assistant is sawn in half and buried in two boxes, while a dead dustman

is put in a refuse sack and thrown unceremoniously into his grave.

Next there is a rally-driver’s funeral at which the hearses are all

travelling at 100 miles per hour, followed by a porn star whose body is

put on display amid luxurious folds of red velvet for people who want to

pay their last respects.

The film ends with a game-show host’s funeral. His coffin is followed on

the conveyor belt into the incinerator by a host of items including a

cuddly toy and a bottle of Champagne in Generation Game style.

The website has been created by Billco, part of BMP’s new-media

offering.

The commercial will be broadcast on satellite channels in the UK and

abroad as well as being shown in cinemas around the country.

Media buying is by OMD UK.

The ad was written by Clive Pickering, art directed by Neil Dawson and

directed by Who? through Great Guns.
