BMP aims to boost TV work with O&M team

BMP DDB has recruited the creative duo Shish Patel and Sam Oliver from Ogilvy & Mather in a bid to boost the creative strength of its television advertising.

The copywriter Oliver, 28, and the art director Patel, 29, have produced work including Physio Sport's "little heroes" campaign and the Lara Croft campaign for Luco-zade. The team had been at O&M, which was their first job, for three years.

The duo will report to BMP's joint creative directors, Ewan Paterson and Jeremy Craigen. They are set to work on the British Gas account, which BMP is currently defending in a review, and will also work on the agency's Volkswagen business.

The appointment forms part of Paterson and Craigen's strategy to raise the creative quality of the television output at BMP.

Last October the pair lured the star team from Leo Burnett, Steve Jones and Martin Loraine, to the department. Their credits had included "shark" for John West's Tuna Snack Pots and McDonald's "divorced parents".

Oliver and Patel's "little heroes" campaign featured animated miniature footballers such as Paolo di Canio and Tony Adams playing the part of a best friend to the ads' main protagonist, with the accompanying tune Together we are Beautiful.

Their Lucozade spots - an extension of the animated campaign featuring the Tomb Raider character - featured real girls dressed as Lara aping the character in computer games by running through everyday scenes as if they were being chased.

The team was also responsible for developing the teenage cloth couple for Lever Faberge's fabric softener brand, Comfort.
