BMP DDB has been appointed by the upmarket furniture store, Heal’s,

to work on its advertising account, which was held by Leagas Shafron

Davis until the agency folded earlier this year.

Clive Pilgrim, the managing director of Heal’s, had spoken to a number

of London agencies about the account, but chose to go to BMP.

Mark Reddy, the joint head of art at BMP, created Heal’s most famous

advertising to date - the ’what the Heal’s going on’ press and poster

campaign - when he was at Leagas Shafron.

Martin Boase, a founder of BMP, was appointed as a non-executive

director of Heal’s in February 1997. He was the chairman of the

Advertising Association from 1987 to 1992.

Heal’s floated in April 1997 and marked its emergence as a public

company with a big push through Leagas Shafron, which was appointed to

the business in 1992. Four posters featured a collage of art and

photography.

Heal’s spent pounds 300,000 on advertising last year, according to MMS.

The store, which opened 188 years ago, has been moving to expand beyond

its London base.
