THE BRITISH TELEVISION ADVERTISING AWARDS 2000: Most Successful Advertising Agency - The AFM Lighting Award/Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO has landed the award for most successful agency for the second year running. Its masterful ’Surfer’ ad for Guinness has made it almost impossible to ignore as a contender. Not forgetting its other execution for Guinness, ’Bet On Black’, which has scooped a BTAA silver. Although it’s easy to see how one client has been responsible for putting the agency above others, what also makes this an exceptional year is the other award-winning work AMV has created, including, on the lighter side, the quirky and surprising campaigns for Dulux Match It and Walkers Max. And, at the serious end of the scale, the thought-provoking work for the DETR with its testimonial drink-drive campaign.

How the awards are calculated: the ITV Award is given ten points, gold

awards seven points, silver awards four points and bronze awards two

points. In cases where the same commercial has won more than one award,

only the highest counts. Companies must have won awards for more than

one client to qualify. Previous winners: Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO

(1999), BMP DDB (1998), Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO (1997), Bartle Bogle

Hegarty (1996), Bartle Bogle Hegarty (1995), BMP DDB Needham (1994),

Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury (1993).
