BSkyB names chief operating officer.

Freudenstein, who was poached from the Australian multi-channel television service FOXTEL last November, was general manager of BSkyB. He has been instrumental in rolling out Sky's digital satellite television service.

Freudenstein, who is 35 years old, will report to BSkyB's chief executive Tony Ball. Commenting on the appointment, Ball said: "This promotion is in recognition of a very skilled business professional who has helped improve the Company's performance in so many areas."
