Nigel Long, the managing director of BDDH, is celebrating a third

week at number one after a fortnight in which the best anyone in the

chasing pack could come up with was Young and Rubicam’s Longines watches

win.

Longines spent pounds 250,000 in the UK last year, so that’s what Y&R

has been credited with until we get client confirmation of any increase

in spend.

This paltry amount is still enough to keep Y&R in third place, just

ahead of a new entrant, Emery McLaven Orr. The tiny Swindon outfit

scooped the Nationwide building society’s pounds 6 million press account

last week, just months after winning a slug of Rover’s pounds 7 million

dealer advertising.

Dealership work may not be that sexy, but the pounds 12 million of new

money Ford’s UK chairman, Ian McAllister, has decided to pour into the

area through Ogilvy and Mather, has propelled the agency to tenth

place.
