The Artists Company has snapped up the director, Mandie Fletcher,
following the demise of her production company, Fletcher Sanderson.
Fletcher’s commercials portfolio includes the John Smith’s Bitter
campaign featuring Jack Dee with a host of dancing penguins, which was
shot through BMP DDB and won a gold lion at Cannes in 1994. She also
made the BT ’EastEnders’ commercial for Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.
Before moving into commercials, Fletcher directed a number of TV comedy
series, including Only Fools and Horses, Blackadder and Butterflies.
She started directing ads through Phoenix Films and then launched her
own company, Fletcher Sanderson, with Madeleine Sanderson. It disbanded
last month when the two decided to go their separate ways.
Debbie Turner, managing director of the Artists Company, said: ’While
Mandie is an established director, I felt that there is huge potential
to relaunch her commercials career, as she has been concentrating on
feature films and TV over the past couple of years.’
Fletcher joins a roster which includes Steve Ramser, who shot the Levi’s
’riveted’ ad for Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Mike Lipscombe, who is best known
for his Abbey National and Blockbuster Video spots, and Eden, who was
featured in this year’s Saatchi & Saatchi new directors showcase.
