Arnold Pearce, the veteran TV producer, has left Saatchi & Saatchi

to launch a production company, New Directions. During 14 years at

Saatchis, Pearce produced the launch work for the Independent and the

InterCity ’relax’ films, three of which were directed by a young Tony

Kaye.

He has a reputation for spotting new directing talent thanks to his

involvement with Saatchis’ New Directors Showcase at Cannes.

Pearce hopes to introduce ’raw and unused’ talent to agencies through

the company, which will be backed by his former colleague, Paul Arden,

and Arden’s partner, Nick Sutherland-Dodd.

Pearce came to London in 1956 from South Africa with a law degree and

started in the business at Lambe & Robinson.
