CAMPAIGN DIARY: Behind the gentle face there’s a man of steel

Those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Chris Pinnington, the managing director of Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, will no doubt have found him to be a gentle, affable sort of chap.

Those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Chris Pinnington,

the managing director of Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, will no doubt have found

him to be a gentle, affable sort of chap.

But this would be quite misleading, because behind the jolly exterior

lies a man with whom no-one should mess. For Pinnington was in court

last week, doing his best to get three teenagers sent down.

The story goes that last March at about 6pm Pinners caught someone

trying to break into his house. Unlike the rest of us, who might have

been rather more lily-livered, he gave chase to the fellow and his two

partners-in-crime.

Failing to catch them, he called the police on his mobile and basically

co-ordinated a chase involving several panda cars and a police van in

pursuit of the offending trio.

Last week the case finally came to trial and, despite two hours of

cross-examination by a panel of Legal Aid barristers, he squarely stood

his ground and stuck to his story. A verdict is due next week.

The message, it seems, is clear: don’t fuck with Pinnington.
