CAMPAIGN DIARY: Do you enjoy drinking and writing? Call 1576

When it comes to hiring creatives, many people reckon that hanging around St Martin’s College of Art and telling potential staff all about your agency works a treat, but 1576, the Edinburgh-based agency, seems to have opted for a different method of recruitment.

When it comes to hiring creatives, many people reckon that hanging

around St Martin’s College of Art and telling potential staff all about

your agency works a treat, but 1576, the Edinburgh-based agency, seems

to have opted for a different method of recruitment.

It needed a writer for one of its art directors, Rufus Wedderburn, so,

knowing that most creatives enjoy a pint, it stuck a recruitment ad on

the back of a load of beermats. The mats have been distributed around

some of Scotland’s seedier watering holes with a wider mail-out planned

for Australia, Amsterdam and Manchester - all drinking centres of the

world in their own way.

The beermat has the word ’wasted’ on one side and a job description on

the reverse. This promises that, at 1576, the art director will worship

you and the creatives are always to hand. Well, it’s nice to dream,

isn’t it?

In case upmarket drinking dens are more your natural habitat, but you

still think you’re wasted, simply give the agency a call on 0131-473

1576.
