CAMPAIGN DIARY: Hytner’s load of balls results in a pounds 758 gain

Publicis may have lost the Camnelot pitch to WCRS - but it wasn’t all doom and gloom.

Publicis may have lost the Camnelot pitch to WCRS - but it wasn’t

all doom and gloom.

It seems Richard Hytner, the chairman of Publicis, was worried that

working on the Lottery would mean agency staff and their families being

barred from playing it. He refused to stop buying tickets until the

pitch result was known.

The week before the announcement, Hytner managed to match three numbers

and picked up pounds 10. And, a few days later when it emerged that

Publicis was out of the running, Hytner was glad he’d had the foresight

to buy his ticket for that week’s draw.

He went on to match five numbers and scooped the princely sum of pounds

748.

One more number and he’d have picked up a cool million.
