Publicis may have lost the Camnelot pitch to WCRS - but it wasn’t
all doom and gloom.
It seems Richard Hytner, the chairman of Publicis, was worried that
working on the Lottery would mean agency staff and their families being
barred from playing it. He refused to stop buying tickets until the
pitch result was known.
The week before the announcement, Hytner managed to match three numbers
and picked up pounds 10. And, a few days later when it emerged that
Publicis was out of the running, Hytner was glad he’d had the foresight
to buy his ticket for that week’s draw.
He went on to match five numbers and scooped the princely sum of pounds
One more number and he’d have picked up a cool million.
