CAMPAIGN DIARY: It’s a magazine war ..

Never let it be said that the National Magazine Company is bitter that Emap Elan managed to lure away Fiona McIntosh, editor of Company magazine.

Never let it be said that the National Magazine Company is bitter

that Emap Elan managed to lure away Fiona McIntosh, editor of Company

magazine.

The departure of McIntosh, who has been appointed editor of Elle, was

announced in a very polite press release from NatMags.

Under the headline, ’Emap pays heavy price for Company editor’, the

release proclaims McIntosh’s deal as the best package ever offered by

Emap. Terry Mansfield, managing director of NatMags, then enthuses about

McIntosh before launching into an attack on Conde Nast with ’it appears

Emap has an even bigger cheque book than Conde Nast whose managing

director spends most of his time outside NatMags offering cash and new

frocks to staff’.

Although it doesn’t mention whether any jobs are on offer, from what we

know of Conde Nast’s managing director, Nicholas Coleridge (pictured),

it really doesn’t sound like his style.
