The 24-year-old actress, Helen Grace, evidently spent a year in adland

’to earn enough to put herself through drama school’, a reliable tabloid

reported recently.



So what did she do? A spell as a typically shapely PA at Saatchis, or a

term in the TV production department of somewhere groovy, maybe? No.



The glamorous Georgia worked as a grubby, number-crunching account

executive for the Media Business.



’She wasn’t very good,’ Dean Weller, the agency’s director of planning,

who hired her, recalls. ’She was very pleasant and personable, but it

was clear from day two that it wasn’t for her.’



Helen (real name Scragg, not Grace, according to Weller) quit after

three months in search of fame and fortune as an actress, and joined

Brookside a year later.



It’s nice to think that the squeaky clean, high-minded profession of

advertising indirectly funded TV’s most infamous pervy storyline ...
