The prospect of winning two tickets to the UEFA Champions League

quarter-final between Manchester United and Porto resulted in an

embarrassing amount of emotional blackmail.

’I really need these tickets. It’s costing pounds 205 to go and see them

in Portugal,’ one said, while a second wrote: ’Do you think being born

in Old Trafford is an additional reason for winning your

competition?’

However, after much rumination, the prize has to go to Marie Oliveira,

of Bates Dorland, who said: ’I would love to win these tickets, first

for being Portuguese and second for it being my 30th birthday on 11

March.’ See how nice we are?
