NABS has announced the finalists in the 1998 Battle of the Bands,

a contest rumoured to be ’rather like Glastonbury but even more like

Lionel Ritchie’.

The five successful bands are from Carlson UK, Flextech, IPC, Payne

Stracey and the Teds Agency and they will all perform live in the

finals, offering both cover versions and at least one original song. The

finals take place in the palatial surroundings of the Hippodrome,

Leicester Square, on 8 October and a large crowd is expected for the

charity bash.

On offer to the winning band is a day’s recording session at either

Metro FM or Kiss 100 and a chance for the group to have their song

played on air. So,there’s everything to strum for.

Even if you think the music may be a bit ropey (although this hasn’t

been the case in recent years) visitors will still have an opportunity

to mingle with celebrities in what promises to be a star-studded

evening, supported by Kiss 100 presenters and dance DJs.
